How to make a Vintage Icon
to: 
1. Pick an image. I'll be using a Keira Knightly from here. Crop the picture. (Either 96x96 for MSN, or 100x100 for LiveJournal)
2. Add a new layer. Fill the layer with the color C8A481. Set it to Darken Only 62.8
Merge it Down by going to Layer --> Merge Down
3. Add a new layer again and fill it with the color 4A71AC and set it to Difference 30.2
Merge it Down by going to Layer --> Merge Down
4. Almost Done.... now go to Filters --> Enhance --> Sharpen Set it to sharphen at 25.
